Medicare Supplement Insurance Costs
Medigap plans are priced in several ways. The monthly premium depends on the plan you choose, the insurance company, personal factors, and the pricing system used for the policy. In addition to the Medigap monthly premium, you must continue to pay any applicable monthly premiums for Original Medicare (Medicare Part A and Part B).
You should enroll in a Medicare Supplement insurance plan during your open enrollment period because insurance companies cannot use any medical underwriting during this period to deny you coverage or increase your premium. Your open enrollment period lasts for 6 months and begins when you are 65 or over and enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B.
It is important to compare plans because rates can vary from one insurance company to another.
