Medicare Supplement Insurance Basics

Original Medicare helps cover the costs of a wide range of medical services and supplies. However, it includes out-of-pocket costs such as coinsurance, copayments and deductibles that can add up quickly. Medicare Supplement Insurance plans are sold by private insurance companies to help pay for these costs, filling in some of those coverage gaps.

A: If you are enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B and are 65 years or older, or have a qualifying disability, you are likely eligible to purchase Medicare Supplement Insurance.
